How do I create an account?

TimeCap is currently available by invitation. Use the link in your invitation email to create an account. Existing members can log in as usual.

Can I change my username?

Open Profile and choose Edit profile to change your username. You can make two changes in a rolling 365-day period. Previous usernames continue to point to your profile. Availability and naming requirements are shown before you save.

I forgot my password. What now?

On the login page, choose “Forgot password” and enter your email. We'll send a reset link; follow it to set a new password. If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check spam, then contact us.

How do I plan a story with TimeCap AI?

Describe the person or moment you want to remember. TimeCap AI proposes chapters and questions for you to review before saving. You can also upload your media first and arrange it into a film.

Do I have to answer every prompt, or in order?

Accepted Answer

Neither. Answer the prompts that speak to you, skip the rest, and jump between chapters freely. You can re-answer a prompt anytime, and the new clip simply replaces the old one. A Story is yours to finish at your own pace, or on a gentle weekly rhythm if you choose it.

What files can I upload?

TimeCap accepts video (mp4, mov, webm), photos (jpg, png, webp, heic), and audio (mp3, m4a, wav). The upload screen checks the file and your remaining storage before accepting it. You can arrange uploaded memories in the order you choose.

Question 7

Why does TimeCap suggest 90 seconds per clip?

Because short is the point. One question, one answer, about 90 seconds. That's small enough to actually record today and focused enough to be watched again and again. Longer clips still upload fine; you'll just see a gentle nudge, not a wall.

Question 8

My video says “processing.” Is something wrong?

Accepted Answer

Processing means TimeCap is preparing or checking your upload. Keep the page open until it finishes. If a clip stays stuck or shows “failed,” try again or contact Support with the file type and error message. Playback compatibility depends on the file format and browser.

Question 9

Who can see my Story?

Accepted Answer

Every Story starts private, visible only to you. From the share sheet you can switch it to shared (anyone with its unique link, plus TimeCap members you send it to in the app) or public (also shown on your profile and in Discover). Your story, your call. Change it anytime.

Question 10

How do I share a Story with my family?

Open the Story and choose Share. Send inside TimeCap gives a member access and sends them a notification; they do not need to accept. A private story stays private and works only for invited accounts. Anyone-with-the-link access is a separate choice. Adding someone to your Family Tree does not grant story access.

Question 11

If I make a Story private again, does the old link still work?

Making a Story private stops new public or anyone-with-the-link page access. Review any selected-person or group grants separately, where enabled. Media already loaded, previously issued viewing links, or recordings made by a viewer cannot be recalled.
